FAQs

When do cashless payments start?

Cashless payments start on Tuesday 27 October, 2026.

The last day to make a cash payment is Monday 26 October, 2026.

Why is VenuesWest removing cash payments?

VenuesWest regularly reviews customer feedback, payment preferences, safety and operational requirements to improve the experience at our venues.

Our review found that moving to cashless payments would reduce cash-handling risks and administration, while supporting a more consistent and efficient service.

Card and other approved electronic payments also reduce the safety and security risks associated with holding, transporting and reconciling cash. The safety of patrons and staff remains a priority.

How will this change actually improve customer service?

By removing cash payments from our venues, we can re-allocate resources to other areas of operations that require additional support, ultimately improving our services and facilities.

Isn't cash a legal tender and therefore must be accepted?

It is a common misconception that cash must be accepted. As per WA Government advice, businesses may choose which payment methods they accept, provided customers are informed of those terms before purchase. You can read more about this on the WA Government website here.

Didn't the venue go cashless in July?

Yes, partially. The Lemon Tree Café went cashless in July 2026. We are now transitioning the entire venue to cashless.

What if I only bring cash and cannot pay for my product or service on the day?

We understand this may be inconvenient. Our customer service team can explain the available payment options and provide assistance where possible. However, we cannot provide a product or service until an accepted payment method has been used.

How has VenuesWest communicated this change?

Customers, patrons and stakeholders have been notified via email, website, social media and venue signage. Communications started approximately two weeks prior to the change.

What are the current ways to pay?

Products and services can be paid for by credit or debit card. Eligible services may also be paid for in advance or by bank-account direct debit.

VenuesWest is investigating other payment methods and will update our patrons if and when these become available.

What if I need assistance making card payments or setting up direct debit?

Our friendly customer service team can assist you to make card payments or set up membership direct debits. Please visit us in venue or call us on 9441 8222 (Perth HPC) or 9300 3355 (Arena Joondalup).

Can I still pay with cash at the tenanted businesses within the venues?

Our tenants run their businesses separate to VenuesWest, therefore they are responsible for choosing the payment methods they accept. Please contact the relevant business directly to check if you can use cash.

We thank our customers for their understanding and ongoing support as we continue to improve our operations.
