Our very own Nick Timmings is set to make his Olympic debut at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
Nick began working for VenuesWest as a casual Venue Officer at HBF Arena and was then promoted to Venue Supervisor in 2018.
He has been competing overseas on his pathway to the Olympics and it has today been announced that he has been named to his first Australian Olympic team for skeleton.
Skeleton involves the competitor lying face down, head-first on a flat sled. The sport is run on an ice track and is named after the bony appearance of the sled.
Some of the highlights of Nick's season so far include -
- Highest ever world ranking - 32nd
- First win in a skeleton race - NAC Lake Placid
- First overall title - North America's Cup Champion
- Best World Cup finish - 19th in Altenberg
The Olympic skeleton competition will take place in Beijing from February 10 - 12.
Nick is competing at the following times;
Thursday 10
Heats: 9.30am and 11.00am
Friday 11
Heats: 5.20pm and 9.55pm (medals)
