Gym Member, Rani, shares her feelings about the benefits she's gained from HBF Arena's Yin Yoga.
"I walked into a Yin Yoga class about a year ago having no idea what it would be about. I thought it would be like a regular yoga class with a different name.
I was very wrong. Our instructor guided us into different positions while on the mat and left us there for three or more minutes. I found these poses uncomfortable and was not much impressed. But when I walked out after the class I no longer felt stiff, so decided to give it a try for a few weeks.
I am a web publisher and a graphic designer. After more than 18 years sitting hunched up in front of a computer screen for more than 8 hours a day, I suffer from upper back pain and bad posture. Upon getting an MRI I was told that I had a herniated disc, thus the pain. Numerous sessions at the physiotherapist, hydrotherapy or chiropractor only gave temporary relief.
The first week after my Yin Yoga session I felt more mobile and my upper back pain had receded.
I have now been attending the Yin yoga classes regularly with Mia and can say that I have no pain in my back. I can stand for long periods without discomfort. If I sit in front of the computer for long periods of time I feel it coming back so I get up and walk about and really try to sit upright when working. It has made a great difference.
I would recommend Yin Yoga to anybody who wants to feel a greater sense of well being and agility."
